01

When to use this calculator

Use this to estimate a bonus amount when the award is stated as a percentage of an eligible salary figure. Confirm which salary component and performance percentage the employer actually applies before entering the values.

02

Formula

The calculator uses this formula:

Bonus = Salary × Bonus percentage ÷ 100

Figures are rounded for display. Calculations use the full entered values.

03

Worked examples

Example 1

A 10% bonus on ₹800,000 is ₹80,000.

Example 2

A 7.5% bonus on $60,000 is $4,500.

04

What your result means

The result multiplies eligible salary by the bonus percentage. It is a gross estimate: discretionary adjustments, performance multipliers, service periods, caps, tax and payroll deductions can all change the final payment.

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Applying the percentage to total compensation instead of eligible base salary.
  • Treating a target bonus as guaranteed.
  • Comparing a one-time bonus with recurring base salary as if they were equivalent.
05

Assumptions and limitations

  • The entered salary is the amount eligible for the bonus calculation.
  • The percentage applies without a cap or performance multiplier.
  • Tax, deductions and payment timing are not modelled.
